About This Special Issue
The future of oil and gas industries needs to adapt themselves to newer technologies such as Membrane technology. Background of polypropylene membranes obtained by MEAUS: The works of Ajji and co-workers (Polytechnique de Montréal), 2007-2014, The research group of Lei Caihong et al. 2013-2016, The research group of Nakamura and co-workers, 1993-1998, The work of Ajji and co-workers, 2014. Hydrophilic modification of polypropylene microporous membranes by grafting TiO2 nanoparticles with acrylic acid groups on the surface, the work of Kian Habibi et al. Development and characterization of mineral-filled (calcium carbonate or talc) polypropylene porous membranes obtained by extrusion, 2015-2018.

Goals to tackle are given:

  1. (1)Mini-reactors for the generation of high value-added production Oils & Gas and Energy
  2. The MIRARI Project aims to introduce the Process Intensification concept to produce high-added value products for two industrial sectors: Oil & Gas and Energy & Mobility.
  3. (2)Biogas membrane reformer for decentralized H2 production
  4. BIONICO will demonstrate the membrane reactor at a much larger scale, so that more than 100 membranes will be implemented in a single fluidized bed membrane reactor. In this way an easier operation can be carried out so that a stable pure hydrogen production can be achieved.
  5. (3)Advanced Membranes and membrane assisted processes for pre- and post- combustion CO2 capture
  6. The key objective of the MEMBER project is the scale-up and manufacturing of advanced materials (membranes and Sorbents) and their demonstration at TRL6 in novel membrane-based technologies that outperform current technology for pre- and post-combustion CO2 capture in power plants as well as H2 generation with integrated CO2 capture.
  7. Reservoir simulation

    1. (1)Gridding in reservoir simulation
    2. (2)Upscaling of grid properties in reservoir simulation
    3. Reservoir simulation applications are:

      1. (1)Relative permeability models
      2. Permeability determination
      3. Disproportionate permeability reduction
      4. Permeability of a layer
      5. (2)Permeability barrier
      6. Geomechanics in reservoir simulation
      7. Isotropic elastic properties of minerals
      8. In-situ stress EOR cases
      9. Methods to determine pore pressure
      10. Reservoir Characterization

        1. (1)DNA fingerprinting for reservoir characterization
        2. (2)Pore pressure prediction using seismic
        3. (3)Acoustic velocity dispersion and attenuation
        4. Keywords:

          1. Membrane technology
          2. EOR
          3. Gas Removal
          4. Gas-Lifting
          5. Reservoir characterization
          6. MEAUS (Melt extrusion annealing uniaxial stress)
